Every year on March 31st, Malta’s National Day will be celebrated with a grand celebration.In 1523, the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem emigrated from Rhode Island and was subsequently expelled from France. Malta became a British colony in the 19th century and officially declared its independence in 1964 as a member of the Commonwealth. Malta joined the EU in 2004 and became a member of the Schengen Convention in 2007.
