How to Inspect Your Home for Hidden Rodent Entry Points

Publish Time: 2025-08-28     Origin: Site

Rodents are great at squeezing through tiny cracks and openings to get into homes, so a detailed look around is required. Start by looking outside your house, specifically the areas by doors, windows, vents, and utility lines. Inspect for holes bigger than the size of a quarter inch; mice and rats can fit through shockingly small spots.

Next look inside especially in basements, attics and crawl spaces. Look behind appliances, under sinks and along baseboards for signs of gnawing, droppings or nests. Keep an eye on dark, messy spaces where rodents can hide during the day.

Once the entry points are located, close them up with steel wool, caulk, or metal mesh. Above all, if you combine your inspection with effective preventative methods such as sanitation and adequate food storage, there is very little chance of any rodent infestation and of breaching the security of your home.
