Togo independence day, April 27, 1960, Togo declared independence. On April 26, 2008, the torch lighting ceremony was held in Merdeka Square, capital of Lome, Togo. On the same day, Togo's president Frey lit the torch on Independent Monument and opened Togo to celebrate Independence 48th anniversary.
