The drying time of spray paint will vary depending on the type of paint you use, the surface and environment. For most spray paints it’s around 10 – 30 minutes, though this will range greatly depending on the brand and type of paint used.
It is also best to let the paint cure fully for a better long-lasting result. The full cure can be 24 hours to a week, depending on the brand and how many coats you applied. The first scraped background failed on multiple levels, but the second one is already looking better thanks to some careful layering (and taking the time to let the gesso dry between layers so it doesn't slough off).
Environmental conditions are also involved. The drier it is, the faster the drying occurs, and if is cold or humid, the drying slowdown. Allowing the finish to properly dry and cure according to the manufacturer's recommended times will provide you with the best finish and longevity.
