How to make natural cockroach bait

As a creature with no natural enemies, it is very difficult to get rid of cockroaches. Getting rid of every single cockroach may seem like an impossible task, but now we just need two ingredients and we can make our own cockroach bait. This can not only save the cost of buying cockroach medicine, but also be more safe and effective!

What You Need to Make Cockroach Bait

What I love most about our DIY cockroach killer is that it only requires two simple ingredients. Because you probably already have these ingredients in your house.

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup baking soda (you can buy it loose, as baking soda can be used in many household items)

Tip: You can easily mass-produce this natural cockroach killer, just make sure to keep the 1:1 ratio!

How to Make a Natural Cockroach Killer

Mix the sugar and baking soda in a bowl in a 1:1 ratio. You can also add it to a jar, cover it, and shake it. It's easy to store. Pour your homemade cockroach killer directly into the area where you see roaches, or pour some in a shallow dish and place it on the floor.

Tip: If you combine this natural cockroach killer with a cockroach trap, you'll see even better results.

How it Works

  • Sugar attracts cockroaches

  • Baking soda will kill cockroaches that eat cockroach bait. In addition, the roaches carry bait back to the nest, where they can then kill more of their fellow roaches!

Where to Put Roach Bait

Cockroaches like to hang out in warm, dark and damp places. Examples: behind the fridge, under the sink, in the cupboard, etc.

For best results, put roach traps in several places at once. Check every few days, and if it looks like roaches are getting into the place you've placed them, you're on to something! Fill your plate with homemade bait and place it in that spot.

But if your roach trap looks untouched, try moving it to another part of the house and checking it again in a few days.
