How To Reduce Mosquito Breeding in Small Apartments

Mosquitoes can still find places to breed in the smallest of apartments, such as in small amounts of standing water. Plant saucers, vases, sinks and water in pet bowls are common places. It is very important to monitor these containers and empty them often so that young mosquitoes do not grow in them.

In addition to adequate ventilation and sanitation, avoidance of mosquitoes is another measure to decrease mosquito presence. Stay in dry, neat places where mosquitoes cannot hide, and keep windows and balcony doors fitted with screens to prevent mosquitoes from entering. Allergens, germs, and other lousy loogies are, of course, at home on your floors, corners, and drains too, so regularly clean those surfaces, and squish, smash, or seal anything that looks like it’s creating little mosquitolettes in your apartment.

(For extra protection, try indoor traps or scented ant repellents.) Electric mosquito traps, or plug-in aroma sticks, can help reduce adult mosquito numbers without using chemicals. When home environment management is added to personal protection, even tiny apartments can be free of mosquitoes all year.
